Seasonal Shift

It's almost Autumn and time to put away the summery blue and white and bring out the things that say Fall to me.

I have the beautiful Glass Gem corn from this year's garden (I'm still loving those pastels) and I have a fine cat to help me.

Odds and ends -- shells, fossils, gourds, more corn . . .

At this season, some of my friends make ancestor altars and lots of folks use harvest decorations. This is a bit of both, in my mind.

Different pictures and different pillow covers make the living room and kitchen seem more in tune with the season.  It's a kind of silly ritual but by putting away some things and bringing out others, it allows us to see our possessions anew.

Of course, were I immensely wealthy, I could just call in an interior designer and go for a complete makeover. But I probably wouldn't.

I don't change anything out. Everything stays the same, all year long. Bland and boring, just.like.me.

I love that corn!

Have a happy equinox, and celebration of life in whatever season...love the blue interior of your pretty cabinet. Is it true periwinkle or just my imagination?

That looks oh so nice. You've inspired me to make some seasonal changes around here.

Your fall decorations are lovely...I do similar 'change of season updates' here at the cabin. I am looking forward to fall...and even more so winter...I'm one of the minority who loves the look of the colorful leaves falling and then the bare trees everywhere!

We have been married so long that if we didn't change things seasonally, we would never seen most of our things. You could tell in an instant that we didn't have a decorator. But the house suits us just fine. And that's what it's all about anyway.
