Impatient

Eager for Spring blooms,
I bring quince branches inside --
Pale petals unfold.

Early daffodils
Are eager too -- don't they know
It's January?

We also saw the first spring messangers. I do hope they will not die if we get some really nasty frost and snow. You never can tell.

Same thing over here, and I think they're all going to regret it, although I hope not.

Our daffodils are doing the same! And I saw a robin the other day.

It's amazing weather we're having -- but, like Wil and Pat, I'm afraid there's snow yet to come.

Julienne - I love being reminded of this big round world we live in!

I'm just hoping all the fruit trees and bushes don't bloom out only to get bit by jack frost : )

Lovely...I felt a gentle impatience in the first image and refrain, that then expanded into excited impatience in the following words and image! LOL

I spent a happy ten minutes yesterday morning at the bus stop, watching a squirrel scamper down a tree to fetch dry leaves off the lower branches, then scamper 'way up to his penthouse apartment (as it were), over and over ... Possibly, he was just adding insulation, but, just possibly, he's sensing spring isn't that far off, either.

Or perhaps he's just deluded. ;)

Love the quince blossoms!
I cut through the Botanical Garden of the University of Vienna today and discovered heralds of spring, a batch of yellow flowers. The sky was bright blue, but icy winds kept temperatures at an uncomfortable level. The flowers did not seem to mind.

You would not have to force any buds if you were in Greensboro. On my way to the office today, I passed trees covered in pink blooms. And, I had to turn on the AIR CONDITIONING in my car today. I'm pretty sure I have never turned the air conditioning on in January in my entire life. Your quince is beautiful!
