Notes from Thanksgiving Night

  1. I took one picture early on and then things got away from me.

2. There was an immense amount of food -- but we really like this kind of leftovers.

3. Plus, we have friends coming Saturday for turkey sandwiches.

4. People outnumbered dogs -- seven to six.

5. Willa made sure to sit in every available lap.

6. The cats were put outside to avoid an Incident.

7. There is such a thing as too much andouille sausage in the dressing.

8. It's kind of cool to have the kind of friends who, during the break between dinner and dessert, take their truck down to the pasture to get a load of composted manure to take home.

9. 7:30 seems early to go to bed... but by the time I bathe it'll be 8, which is only an hour from 9 ... and it's either that or lapse into a tryptophan coma on the sofa.

10. Goodnight, my blog friends -- I'm thankful for the way you all have enlarged my world!

Glad it went well. I'm relieved it's over. Now it's time for me to get started dreading Christmas.

That sounds just like the perfect day. What could be better than plenty of good food, some good friends and of course the animals!

Sounds like a good time was had by all!

We too enjoy the leftovers almost more then the original meal, and with all the preparation/hussle and bussle of the day, by 9:30 I was heading to bed.

I have fallen in love with Willa through your blog. How lucky for her and you that she came into your life. We spent the day with friends who included us in their family celebration since we aren't doing a traditional Thanksgiving until Saturday. So thankful, always, for our extended family of friends.

Blessings being sent your way from FL today. I head back to the mountains tomorrow, but not before getting sand between my toes! Thanks for your daily sharing of your environment, work and family and friends!

I love your list, especially point 8. Friends indeed. As for point 10, the feeling is mutual. Wishing you a good night's sleep - and enjoy the leftovers.

Great post! Sounds like my kind of day.

Interesting, isn't it? Many people were heading out to get in line at the stores just when you were heading to bed. I cannot imagine a thing in this world that I want so badly that I would stand/sit/lie outside a store for hours in order to buy it at a discount.

This if my favorite Vicki Lane post to date. Our dog to people count was 8-5. people to dogs. And I, too, love the painting on the back wall. Glad you had a wonderful day.

Sounds like you had a wonderful (if exhausting) day! We had a good one too--lots of great food and family and time to spend with them.

I do think it amusing in your photo--that although the PEOPLE outnumber the dogs, you'll note it's the DOGS lying about on the furniture with most of the people standing about. :-)

Take care,
Tammy
