Lots o' Snow

Oh my, so much snow!  Our road was impassable to vehicles -- even with chains -- on Christmas and on Boxing Day.  Our friends from the other side of the county couldn't make it here for Christmas and we couldn't get out to the traditional Boxing Day party at other friends' house.

So far, so good. We have power, an embarrassing amount of food and sparkling wine, books and toys to play with . . . and more snow in the forecast. We aren't going anywhere.

Power, food, wine, books and toys ...plus views of wonderland out your windows - all sounds so good to me!

The scenes you show look great but inside it must be disappointing to miss out on your hosting and visiting.

Sounds as though you have little choice but to stay warm and cosy. It looks as though we're getting a brief thaw here. The surrounding countryside is still very white indeed!

It's been snowing here since early afternoon...still coming down, but it's also been breezy, sending swirls of snow to wrap around buildings. Looks like yours has a bit more moisture. Temperature here this a.m. is around 20F. Glad you are snugged in! Enjoy!

Lots of snow here too, and it's still coming down with winds building and temperatures dropping. All Christmas plans have been put on hold til the coming week end.

Snow in the Northern countries and floods in the Southern...what is the world coming to!
I love the photos though and as long as you were warm and very well fed all is good!
Do love the way your last pic(s) works I will have to go and experiment!!!

What a shame your plans had to be changed - but at least you're safe and snug (though the animals have to be fed too.) It snowed again here this morning but it's nothing like as heavy as yours.

It's hard to believe now how hot you were in the summer, isn't it.
All this snow provides a good setting for your next story though.
Are you going to eat all the food yourselves, I wonder?
Is the rented house on your farm inhabited yet? If so, it is an experience for the new renters isn't it.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for my flight to Atlanta on 6th January!
Blessings, Star

Books, food, warmth and light to read by. What more could anyone want? The best laid plans of mice and men gang aft agley, so a good back-up plan is essential.

What peace you capture in these photos. And of course as long as you have family, food, warmth, and power, it is peace.
Thank you for sharing.

Oh I'm sorry your Christmas didn't turn out as planned. This storm really screwed up plans for thousands of people. The pictures are pretty though.

Same here except we did lose power for several hour Christams Day. Now, the folks who are here can't get out and the folks who aren't here can't get here. Hope it clears up soon.

And, isn't it the safest, warmest feeling in the world, to be snowed in with plenty of heat, food and good wine?

It is amazing how snow can make a magical world.
You are still very snowy. A white Christmas seems ideal but has also drawbacks !
In the north of France we also have had a very cold and snowy december. Not at all usual under this lattitude.
I wish you a very fine year end.

Vicki -- your second photo down from the top of your post looks like a Grandma Mosses painting! Lovely -- enjoy being house bound as am I. Warm weather right around the corner. barbara

Love the slideshow! The photo of the steps is great. That landscape is going to be breathtaking when the sun comes out and the sky turns blue. Another slideshow then maybe??

Lovely photos! Is this much snow typical for your area? I remember it seemed like you got allot of snow last year too. So far we've got icy skiffs of snow, but nothing in the way of accumulation. Sorry to hear that the parties didn't work out. I'm sure there will be some makeup ones in the future?!
Have a good one.
