Yesterday morning, once again we awoke to find that the snow gods had been at work. We had put our tree up the day before and with a little help, got the popcorn/cranberry chain in place. In past years we've had a full living room of family and friends to help with the decorating but because of the impending weather, the decorating session was curtailed.
So I spent most of Sunday, hanging ornaments, tying red satin bows, putting candy canes in place (I'm fussy and like them all to face the same way,) making sure the little twisted metal icicles dangle freely --- oh, it's a job!
But it's a trip down memory lane, as well. Ornaments inherited from my mother and my husband's mother and grandmother; god's eyes my boys made when they were very young, the felt ornaments we made for a Christmas at my grandparent's house almost forty years ago, the stuffed cloth hearts and all the odds and ends that have accumulated over the years -- gifts that I treasure (the bristly donkey that looks like our Kate is the most recent) and little gems I couldn't resist (the pink pig with a piglet at her side.)
A pleasant way to spend a snowy day!

It all looks so cosy, Vicki. A nice antidote to the weather!
sounds like the perfect way to spend a snowy day. your decoratiosn look wonderful...sorry you did not get your house full to help...been forever since i made cranberry or popcorn strings...need to do that...
Beautiful tree and decorations Vicki.
We have old decorations from years gone by and try and add a few new from year to year. Good memories.
Yes, the snow has arrived, along with cold and winds, and more to come.
Your decorations are gorgeous Vicki. After seeing your photos, I wish I could just dash in your door, give you a big hug, and wish you a very Merry Christmas, but we're snowed in.

Yes a good way to spend a cozy snowy day inside-the same thing was going on here yesterday : ) We got about 6 inches over night-so I'm thinking you probably got a foot!
Vicki everything looks wonderful! It's so sweet to see the dog snoozing beneath the tree. We don't have any snow but it's cold as the dickens here this morning.
Wintery wonders... You tickled my own memories with the twisted silver metal icicles...
what a beautiful tree
and the snow outside is comforting
in its closeness and stillness
cozy for sure
you have a wonderfull view from your windows Carolyn. The snowy garden is a treat.
Have a nice week.

What a gorgeous post from the snowy scene outside to the beautiful tree. It is Christmas card perfect.
I am curious about the intermediate and advanced writer's forty pages? Is that offered online at all? How do you know if you are intermediate what are the prerequistes for that? I have my 200 page story that I am working on and I would love to take a class like that with those pages. If it is available online what is the cost and how do I find out if I qualify as an intermediate writer?
What a treat it would be if you all could pop in for coffee or tea and some Christmas goodies!
All my popping in will be done virtually for a while. We're still in the midst of snow and the whole county has shut down. The power went off briefly and may do so again.
Kristen -- no, it's not an online class. I'm thinking about the logistics of doing one but it's still in the thinking stages...

Love the decorations Vicki. I hope the snow eases up so that family and friends can make it in to celebrate Christmas with you and yours.
Vicki,
I do hope that someday I can take that class. Merry Christmas. Virtual popins are good too. I am drinking a hot toddy right this minute and imagining that I am enjoying your tree. We are not putting one up this year. I am kind of sad about this but everyone around our neck of the woods has been under the weather and we have no help getting it up. I will have to enjoy a virtual Christmas tree.
Your tree looks terrific and decorating it has obviously tired that dog out! Seriously though, it was a wonderful day to do it, wasn' it, with all that snow out of the window. It's o.k. just so long as it doesn't last toooo long.
Your ornaments sound wonderfully special and nostalgic. It's always a thrill to get them out of the box, isn't it.
Now have a day off!
Blessings, Star
Beautiful tree -- your dog felt right at home sitting like a present under the tree.
Your tree is lovely. Our ornaments, too, have memories and stories behind them. And we also have a God's Eye that my daughter (who is now 22) made in elementary school. Along with a toilet paper roll Santa and an egg carton bell and...
The snow gods have favored us, as well, here in Northern Buncombe. Perhaps you know the incantation to urge them elsewhere? :-)
Sounds like a perfect day. Love your tree and the snow pics.
You have quite a bit of competition with "decorating" ... looking out the window, it looks like Mother Nature herself has been quite busy. I love the splash of color inside and the white framing it from without. Very nice.
How wonderful, so many memories hung on your tree. I love your white world and your warm home.
I envy the way you undertake your decorating. Being impatient, I've always attacked the job like I'm killing snakes.
It certainly looks Christmassy - and your tree is a picture. Yes, it's lovely rediscovering the memories when you unpack the ornaments for another year.
How cosy is your home!
