Moon Over the Mountains

A few days ago, the combination of moon, distant snow-covered mountains, and reflected setting sun kept me busy snapping pictures.

Those last rays of the sun seem to magnify the far-off slopes and peaks.

And the clouds that have piled up above the eastern horizon masquerade as higher peaks, a heavenly mountain range.

You may have noticed that I've added some more blogs to my list. It's an eclectic bunch because, as I said a few days ago, I'm interested in almost everything.

There's Janet Reid, Literary Agent -- She's not my agent and I've never met her. But I've followed her blogging for some time -- witty and opinionated, Ms. Reid has lots of good advice for aspiring writers and lots of interesting stuff about publishing in general. I always recommend this blog to writers who ask 'How do you get an agent?'

Meanderings and Muses -- a recent entry to the blogosphere, is a virtual salon for mystery fans and authors. Kaye is a sort of mega-mystery fan who has many interesting friends contributing to her blog -- and she writes charming pieces herself -- the topics often stray from mystery.

estaminet -- estaminet left a comment here sometime back and I checked out her blog. A recent amazing piece "a daffodil in my forehead" addresses the Problem of Good and Evil -- a tall order, even for one 'on the cusp' of becoming an ordained minister in the Presbyterian church. This young woman's writing fascinates me.

The Village Witch -- Byron is a local bookseller. a hereditary Appalachian witch, and a Wiccan. The Earth religions are particularly popular in this area and Byron's blog is an interesting window into the rituals and calendar of the Wiccan year -- there's also a good bit about gardening and food and other simple joys.

Marta McDowell -- Speaking of gardening, Marta is a landscape gardener and a garden writer. I am captivated by her lucid prose and would enjoy her pieces even if I weren't a gardener.

And then there are the old familiars -- Here, Where I Am from Kay Byer, NC's poet laureate with pictures and poems and more; Millet Love from Nora, my friend living and working in Africa for a year; Pepper at the Quilt Studio, because I miss quilting and can scratch the itch by reading about Pepper's classes; Musings from Fairlight Farm, Tammy and her beautiful sheep and dogs and cats and chickens. I've never had sheep and probably never will but I sure like reading about them. And last, for the moment anyway, Rambling Thoughts and Thoughtful Ramblings. It's been fun following Susan's adventures as an aspiring writer, a beginning gardener and now, proprietor of a pet sitting business.

There are several more that I check on --some more family oriented, some author specific such as those of S.J. Rozan and Laurie R.King and . . . but that'll do for now.

Great photos, Vicki. I'd hoped to get a moon photo like yours, but by the time I got home to my camera, it was too late.
I've got a lot of catching up to do with your blog and the others. K
