Winter Evening

Pastel sunset shades
Into deep indigo -- where
A pearl scrap of moon
Rides high and lonely above
Winter's cold skeleton trees.

An Appalachian sunset is one of my very favorite things, it is a glimpse of Heavens' gate! Did Ethan get to come home?

It's seems our evenings have been especially beautiful here lately ... so clear, so starry, simply breath-taking.

Yes, did Ethan get to come home?

The boy is home!

That's great news ! The boy is home! That reminds me of something my daughter-in-law said once;
"A sick man always converts back to a boy and he will want Mommy's attention everytime".So give him lots of it and he will be his ole self in no time.

Vicki - Did you see Venus and Jupiter making a face in the sky with the crescent moon? First it was a frown and then it went to a smile as the moon crossed the two planets (Venus and Jupiter).

Lis, I saw it as it was moving across the sky but as it all came together it went behind the mountain for me. Vicki, I hope you were able to see it ... it was quite special.

Missed the moon and planets event. Drat!

I took those pictures in Asheville, around 6,right before going inside to meet my last writing class. When we were finished, I was just in a hurry to get home and didn't check out the moon.

Venus and Jupiter are still close tonight - only 4 deg. - you can only see them for about an hour and a half after sunset in the SW sky. On New Year's Eve the crescent moon and Venus will again be paired (Jupiter will not be near them then).

I'll check it out if the ridges don't block my view. Thanks!
