It's pleasant out here and I enjoy a Spring saunter as much as anycat, but The Woman hasn't given the whole story.
Words and pictures from the author of And the Crows Took Their Eyes as well as the Elizabeth Goodweather Appalachian Mysteries . . .

No Hats on These Cats
The sun did not shine; it was too wet to play.
So we stayed in the house all that cold cold, wet day.
Too wet to go out , too cold to play ball.
So we stayed in the house and did nothing at all.
And all we could do was to sit, sit, sit;
And we did not like it, not one little bit.
Except for Madame Angeline.
Sitting inside suits her fine.

Standoff
This could have ended badly for our resident blacksnake.
We count on him or her to keep down the rodent population and to deter copperheads.
While Layla was definitely interested, she was also a bit intimidated.
The snake was in defense mode but really just wanted to get away.
John, who took these pictures, was able to get Layla inside so that Big Black could ooze away back to his/her job. I hated to miss the action but was in the house with Josie and didn't want to bring her out in case Layla attacked the snake.
Which, thanks to John, didn't happen.

Corycat Ignores Layla
What? You interrupt my 'nip trip.
Yes, I'm on the table.
So what?
This is so wrong on many levels. You'd better get down.
Silly dog. I say ha ha to your admonition and turn my back.
I continue to ignore you in special effects.

A Joyful Reunion
We had a visit last weekend from our friend Vic. He's the one who's responsible for our adding Layla to our family.
I told the story of how she found him and how he rescued her HERE.
She remembered him and gave him lots of kisses. He mentioned that she'd put on weight and I told him that we thought there is something in the water here -- it seems to happen to all of us.

Dog Heaven
Watching dogs playing is like meditation for me . . .
Dogs are so intensely in the moment . . .
And they can dart up and down the slopes like nobody's business -- last time I tried something like that was sixty-some years ago at Camp Junaluska and I twisted my ankle rather badly.
Bob can't help but look graceful . . .
Layla is a little envious . . .
And she wonders just what it is he's found . . .
Okay, that does it. She's going to have to see about this.
And off she goes.
"What's all this then?"
Bob's not talking.
Just another day in Dog Heaven.
