Thunder and dark clouds had us hopeful as we watched curtains of rain obscuring the distant Blue Ridge.
Bailey takes great exception to thunder and stands up against the railing to bark it away.
We've had some rain but the branches (creeks) are low and the longer the pastures stay green, the longer we can put off feeding hay.
The rain got tantalizingly closer then seemed to stall. (Not sure what caused the divide in this picture.)
Finally, after it was dark, it rained, pounding on the metal roof and sending Jenny into hiding.
A bit over a half an inch--glorious!

How wonderful to get aa good soaking and also to see it come in like that. That divide looks like a glass panel. How odd.
Local storm? Or is it possible it may make it's way north to us?
Probably local, alas!
I happily closed the blinds, and my eyes, and didn't experience the after-dark rain at all.
That storm off the coast gave us an inch and a half! First it stuttered and bands kept moving around us on both sides, then we got a whole night of blessed rain just as you did. I know the Outer Banks suffered, but I am so grateful that our trees had a good drink. Now, more please, sir.
I loved reading this. It's so relatable, that feeling of watching the weather and hoping for rain, especially when you need it. The photos of the rain sweeping over the hills are beautiful and so dramatic! And it's so funny and sweet to hear about Bailey and Jenny's different reactions to the thunder and the rain on the roof.
I'm glad you finally got some of that glorious rain!

Wonderful rain. We've had some today too, very heavy much of the time but no thunder. Your dog's reaction amused me. If he knew what he was guarding you against, he'd guard you!
Big smile for Bailey standing like a people.
