The Razor's Edge

Come Tuesday or Wednesday, most of these leaves will be gone. And so, I hope, will be our uncertainty about the election.

I'm still reliving the night of the 2016 election. I was in the rehab/nursing home, recovering from the accident that broke my left ankle and boogered up my right shoulder, leaving me bedridden for months. I'd watched the debate with the Orange One looming behind Hillary as she spoke and still, in my innocence, that she had the election in the bag.

I had underestimated the misogyny and gullibility of many of my fellow Americans. I'm trying not to do it again.

Watching the Former Guy unravel, spewing vitriol, alienating one segment of our society after another, I find myself thinking that surely this time, people will see him for what he is.

Then again, for those who get their 'news' from Fox and the like, well, those folks have their alternate facts.

And here we are, teetering on a razor edge, balance between hope and fear, democracy and oligarchy.

May all be well.

I don't listen to him, or actually any reports about who said what. Since I already voted, I've made my effort, and now I want some peace and quiet. (Unlikely of course, since some TV shows now won't let me fast forward to avoid the commercials, many of which are candidate's ads.) But I know that this is going to work out one way or another. Drama will certainly be offered, after all, we're an entertainment culture! I do have my choices and would be very unhappy indeed if Harris doesn't win.

I think that whatever the outcome, 45 will declare that he won. The extreme right has been publishing misleading polls saying that he has 67% of the vote. So if he doesn’t win, which I don’t think he will, he’ll tell that it was rigged, go to court, etc., and it will bring delays. His Maga cult will believe that he won. This is the state of affair in the US right now. To me it’s unbelievable that millions of people who went to school, and can read, should think this con man should be president.
