Autumnal Equinox

From river rising
White tide swelling -- fog lifts to
Mountains --Fall is here.

Day and night balance
On the fulcrum of the sun --
Then tilt toward winter.

Beautiful photos. Did you take those this morning?

I am so glad it is the first day of autumn. One step closer to my absolute favorite season - winter. My dreams are filled with visions of red and gold leaves coloring the mountain scenery...leading eventually to white, snow-capped ridges. I love this time of year.

Yep, took em this morning. I was afraid the fog was going to blot out the sunrise but the sun won the race.

I love a good haiku first thing in the morning - thanks Vicki

Thanks, Liz! I've been a haiku fan for a long, long time -- they're a wonderful tool for teaching kids about poetry. My first teaching job was at Camp Lejeune in 1964 and my sixth graders turned out some beauties -- we made mimeographed chapbooks and were they proud!

Beautiful pictures ... what a view to wake up to every morning!

I am so glad for autumn to arrive, and we've gotten a wonderful taste of it these past few days. My favorite time of the year.

The temperature is just about perfect, for my taste. All of our windows are still open but I have on a corduroy shirt, Delicious!
