My favorite was a green plaid dress with a gathered skirt on a bodice with a laced bib. I was probably four and dubbed it my purple people eater dress. I can only speculate why. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane.Deannahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17137773126591638229noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-764237570467034909.post-38243035378174967682018-02-05T12:38:57.089-05:002018-02-05T12:38:57.089-05:00Wow! My most vivid memory was when my father took us to Catos in Elkin to shop for Christmas while my mother was in the hospital after giving birth to my youngest brother. One outfit each! That was extravagant since there were 4 girls! I chose a red plaid, quilted skirt and a soft short sleeved blue blouse with white trim. It was the first "store-bought" outfit I ever had! I remember thinking how beautiful it was! My father never took us shopping again! 😊GPearsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14889181528125669436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-764237570467034909.post-70297664784349570972018-02-05T11:11:21.890-05:002018-02-05T11:11:21.890-05:00This post was fun! I also tossed away about half of what I sewed, because I had the ideas and tried to be creative without patterns often. Silly me. My first fashions had been crafted by my seamstress grandmother when I was very small...lots of photos of them were taken to send back to her. Then about the time I became a teen, I was purchasing dance and school clothes. Yummy. Now I had choices! But one of the last of my grandmother's creations was a taffeta dance dress, bold plaids!Barbara Rogershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08351113054045427775noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-764237570467034909.post-5948716462206134412018-02-05T06:33:26.554-05:002018-02-05T06:33:26.554-05:00OMG.........Best & Co........Donegan's.......OMG.........Best & Co........Donegan's........what memories! I had a yellow cable-knit cardigan from the former, and bought a madras<br />shirtwaist dress from the latter when at U of F! Thanks for the memory flash, Vicki.Susannoreply@blogger.com
