Of course, with a self publishing outfit, you can send in a ms. and in slightly over a month, there's your book.Vicki Lanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08114677510459055768noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-764237570467034909.post-48986211674353154712009-06-25T02:13:27.886-04:002009-06-25T02:13:27.886-04:00Well, you know you've got a sure sale here. :-...Well, you know you've got a sure sale here. :-) And while May sounds like a long wait, it will be here before we know it. Although I know I will have the hardest time waiting during January and February. It seems like it takes those months forever to pass and I know I will be wanting "The Day of Small Things" something fierce!

It has been really interesting for me to read about how many people, and how much hard work, it takes to get a book ready to be published once the author has finished the first draft. Sanford, you can believe that book would be hitting the shelves in weeks, not months.

But for non-time-critical materials, they like to have their lists made up well in advance -- for the reviewers, as I said, and so the sales reps can contact book stores, etc.Vicki Lanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08114677510459055768noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-764237570467034909.post-73484843870454347222009-06-24T21:10:07.904-04:002009-06-24T21:10:07.904-04:00Maybe the reviewers can read faster? Strange though that in this day and age it would be possible for it to electronically go into the world tomorrow, but paper takes a year. It will be interesting to see how the publishing world will work 25 years from now, if I'm still around In the meantime, we all have something to look forward to.

Lynne in GAAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-764237570467034909.post-11929374351685110252009-06-24T20:08:50.527-04:002009-06-24T20:08:50.527-04:00Not nearly so frustrating as for those readers wai...Not nearly so frustrating as for those readers waiting to find out about that phone call that ended my last book.;-)Vicki Lanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08114677510459055768noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-764237570467034909.post-57330991653121755552009-06-24T19:37:18.227-04:002009-06-24T19:37:18.227-04:00I didn't realise it took that long to get to t...I didn't realise it took that long to get to the release date.
