More Ordinary Things

Okay, it was childish of me, ten years ago, to buy the Spotted Dick pudding just because of the name. And probably even more childish to have saved the tin.  And now, to memorialize said childishness . . .

But I'm really enjoying drawing (though not very well) and painting ordinary things.

Hit don't matter how lop-sided the end result is. What matters is the peaceful feeling I get, as I concentrate on a familiar object and attempt to really see it.

Maybe I should get stoned to further enhance the experience. . .

I first heard of Spotted Dick as a teen. It was mentioned with humour. Still never had it and still don't quite know what it is although I could find out easily enough, and perhaps I will go ahead and do that.

Looks gross but might not be,

It's a sort of soggy sponge cake with raisins. Fairly tasty but nothing special.

Getting stoned also appeals to me these days. I love that pitcher. I have a small collection of 14 pitchers -- pottery, glass, porcelain, pewter -- and I've always had a fondness for them.

Loving your looking at things and recording them with the words to go with them in paintings. Isn't attention to details fun? Just the lines of the pitcher and then the coloring, shading with paint? Ooo, I get a contact high from talking and observing creativitiy!
