This pretty critter landed on my laptop while I was doom-scrolling. It seemed like a message.
I took it outside and we communed for a while.
Then I moved it to a plant and went in and read Mary Oliver's lovely poem The Summer Day-- a nice change from the news and appropriate at all times. You can find it here.
And remember to breathe.

This was the perfect thing to read on this scary morning.
I might have reacted differently to a strange creature alighting on my person, but I don’t know this critter.
I've called these leaf hoppers...since they have a leaf shaped body...no idea if it's right or not. I've decided to celebrate this evening, enjoying the process of democracy at it's pinnacle, rather than avoiding the excitement. If I have a heart attack from it, well, I am rather elder already!
The results might not be final until late Wednesday or Thursday. Reading a book is impossible, but I will play with the cats and watch the birds at our feeders.
I'm pretty sure you actually do know this critter -- Jiminy Cricket, Pinocchio's conscience and mentor. ; )
