Looks like you've got it all under control!

Lovely! WHat ARE those yellow/brown short skinny things you roasted on a cookie sheet?

Barb, those are slivered almonds that were cooked in an iron skillet with an equal amount of sugar to make almond brittle. They were spread on the cookie sheet to cool. The almond brittle will go on top of the whipped cream on top of the pumpkin chiffon pie tomorrow.

Oh my, that sounds so good!

I like that old cook book with all the wrinkles and stains. I bet you have poured over that for years with sticky almond brittle sampling figures.

Having a well-deserved sit-down, by the looks of it. I bet your kitchen smells wonderful with all those things cooking.

Wishing you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving, Vicki.

What a great kitchen supporter you have there in that photo. Great for tasting and clean up, I imagine.

That almond brittle sounds delish!

After all these years, I finally did it right. Did the pancetta sage butter for the turkey, made the potato casserole, made the deviled eggs, made the cranberry sauce, made the dressing and put them in the fridge. All that remains on Thursday is to cook the turkey, make the rice, gravy, and green beans. And bake the dressing and sweet potato casserole. Usually I do everything on Thanksgiving Day. I have no idea why it took so long for me to learn.

Well done. I am late for Thanksgiving wishes but I am sure that with such preparations everything went very well.
