Words and pictures from the author of And the Crows Took Their Eyes as well as the Elizabeth Goodweather Appalachian Mysteries . . .
I always hate to see the foliage go. Makes everything look so drab and dreary, even when it isn't.
Wonder what the last rose always thinks. All those summer roses are so taken for granted, but the last one seems pensive. Or maybe it's me.
Vicki, I do like the looks of these colors still brightly shining. The leaf in the sixth photograph reminds me of a fox's face.xo
Love the bright yellow tree in the 5th pic. Is it a sourwood tree?
Gayle, it's a Coral-bark Japanese Maple (Sangu Kaku.)
Recent rain and wind have done quite a number on our leaves. Beginning to look more like winter than fall.
The colour is hanging on this year.
Beautiful contrast between the huge trees and the delicate last flowers.
Those colors are so lovely. They will stay in your memory until next fall.
