Ah, the pepper . . . I thought of making it the foundation of a rude vegetable assemblage but then I thought again. It went into a soup and spiced it up nicely.
The lichen was growing on the side of the rather smelly dumpster where I take our garbage (we don't have waste pickup out where I live -- instead we have 'recycling centers.' Ours is twenty minutes away.
