French Broad River Dreams

Sometimes a man just needs to be off by himself . . .
Away from the bother of family life . . .
The screaming kids, the quarrelsome wife . . .
Out in nature on the wild river
That flows down to Hot Springs . . .
And the hot tubs . . . and the hippie chicks
Just off the Appalachian Trail . . .
Maybe looking for a real man . . .

But the river keeps running, not stopping for no one . . .
Bound for Tennessee and beyond . . .
River joining river . . . carefree
Sliding through state lines . . .
Into the great Mississippi, and down to New Orleans . . .
Music and booze, all night long. . .
And the women . . . wild and free as the river, they say . . .

Hmmmm... don't know if I want my man there. He might like it!

Certainly sounds tempting.

ha. there's a bit of truth in that....smiles...and here i thought you might make reference to the man having enough faith in his truck that it can walk on water...smiles...

i am rather fond of my wild and free woman...

Brian ... that was implied;-)

Amazing as it is for me to see that truck in the river, it doesn't look like it's moving. Was he just parked there, or moving slooooowwww? Great poem!

The truck was just sitting there and the fella behind the wheel was doing the same. I was puzzled . . . and then my imagination kicked in.

And sometimes it's nice to have the man out of the house....

Ahh, Jean. You've discovered why my wife liked the Boy Scouts so much.

The moving river, running wild and free is a good metaphor for escaping from woes. Sometimes women need the same freedom. Very nice post -- barbara

That's hilarious. Just when you think you've seen it all! Love where your imagination went with it... :)

No matter the narrator - this so the
Vicki voice. Slightly cheeky, honest.
And I loved the light in post before this!
