And So It Begins . . .

Seduced by the mention of Seeds from Italy over on my friend Louise's blog, I placed an order -- Pomodoro Costoluto Fiorentino and Pomodoro Cuor di Bue (Beef Heart tomato,)  Cima di Rapa (or, more prosaically, sprouting turnip top,) a lovely Lemon Leopold sunflower, Black Tuscan Kale, Chioggia beets, cucumbers, green beans . . .
I can hardly wait!

Here's hoping your produce (seeds) do exactly that!

I'm tempted to say, "And Sow it Begins..."

How exciting. Keep us updated during harvesting.

Husband is champing at the bit to start his plants, but I think he'll end up going with the old wisdom of "don't plant before Memorial Day."
He carefully saves seeds each year from our gigantic plum tomatoes so as to keep the family line alive.

oh wow.,.someone is going to have a very nice garden this year...

When will you plant? Do you begin inside and move the seedlings out?
It can snow all the way into April here in KY Bluegrass. I want to get our vegetable garden right this year. As you can tell, we're novices.

Mmmmm!! I have a great kale salad recipe that is for Tuscan kale although the curly kind works as well.

Such a fantasy life can be lead with gardening and seed catalogs!!

Should someone send you a copy of The Too Many Tomatoes Cookbook? [grin]--Mario

I love the spring tradition of buying seeds, but am always so seduced by the colorful pictures on the front of the packets that I end up buying way more than I need. Yours are lovely, Vicki, and make me want to go buy my own right away. :-)

What a punny bunch! I'm looking at you, Ms. A and Martin.

I'll plant the kale and beets outside soon -- and cover the beds with reemay cloth. The tomatoes I'll start inside -- or ask Justin and Claui to put them in their greenhouse. The beans, cukes, sunflowers, I'll start directly in the garden in May.

Ha! I just had a post with that same title :) My husband's grandparents came from Italy many years ago and they brought with them some seeds. We have tomatoes in our garden every year from those seeds -all our friends swear they are the best tomatoes. My children and hubby just started planting a few weeks ago - starting from seed in our house. Good luck this season!
